With one certification, the average pay was $53,000, with five certifications, it is $62,000, with ten, the average pay was $75,000.

NEW DETAILED CISCO SALARY SURVEY
CCIEs reported incomes for 2002 of about $99,000.
On the entry-level end of the pay scale, CCNAs reported an average income of $70,000 in 2000.
CCDP Design Professionals saw their 2000 average salaries increase from $79,000 to $80,000 for 2001; they expect average base salaries of $85,000 for 2002.
CCNPs, the premier title that is most often the steppingstone to CCIE, reported an average base salary
of $79,000 in 2002.
If you believe that training and experience in specialized fields will make a difference in your salary, you're right. Cisco's Security Specialist title, introduced in 2001, came through with an average salary of $80,000 for 2001. For IP Telephony specialists it was $78,000

ORACLE NEWS:
Hands-On Course Requirement
Beginning September 1, 2002*, Oracle University will require that all candidates
pursuing the 9i DBA Oracle Certified Professional credential must attend one instructor-led course either inclass or online to receive certified status. To meet the requirement, candidates must attend a course offered at an Oracle University center or at an Oracle Authorized Education Center or Partner.
The courses that fulfill the new requirement are listed below:
Oracle9i Introduction to SQL
Oracle9i Database Fundamentals I.
Oracle9i Database Fundamentals II
Oracle9i Database Performance Tuning
Oracle9i Database New Features (available to those with Oracle DBA experience on previous releases)
Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL **
Candidates who have already taken at least one exam in the 9i DBA track prior to September 1st will not be required to meet the new instructor-led course
requirement. In addition, if you are already certified in the DBA track at version 7.3, 8.0 or 8i, you are not required to meet the instructor-led course requirement to upgrade your credential to 9i.
All new Oracle9i DBA Certified Professional candidates who begin taking exams after September 1st will not be certified until completing both the exam requirements and attending one instructor-led course.
MICROSOFT DISCONTINUING EXAMS
Microsoft has said it will discontinue nine certification exams next year. The exams will no longer be available after June 30, 2003. Here is the list:

Exam 70-091: Designing and Implementing Solutions with Microsoft Office 2000 and Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications
Exam 70-098: Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows 98
Exam 70-105: Designing and Implementing Collaborative Solutions with Microsoft Outlook 2000 and Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5
CISCO NEWS
*New CCNA exam Cisco will replace the existing CCNA 640-607 exam with CCNA 640-801. The new exam is designed to better assess the skills of entry-level candidates. The exam covers LANs, VPNs, SANs, IP addressing, Cisco Command Line Interface, routing and switching technologies and protocols. The new exam debuts on June 30; the old one retires on Sept. 30, 2003.
